​Types of Donations

 

Blood Donation Centre provides two types of blood donation:

 

•      Blood Donation

•      Platelet donation

Most people, not just donors, only know about blood donation. The human body contains about 4.5 to 6 liters of blood and blood generally contains three types of blood cells, namely red blood cells, white blood cells and platelet cells. In addition, the liquid containing the three types of cells called plasma. So human blood can be separated into four components that can be donated separately.

The Blood Donation Centre, apart from donating blood, we also provide services platelet donation. Platelet donation is different from a regular blood donation. Processes or steps before donation is the donation of platelets is the same but using apheresis machine. Blood from donors will be entered into the machine and platelet apheresis will be filtered while the red blood cells and white blood including most of the plasma will be returned to the donor agency. This process takes about 1 hour, not including registration, hemoglobin test and medical examination.
